About This Book

‘Ankahi’ highlights the prevalent social and domestic circumstances
in a common middle class family about forty to fifty years back. It
narrates the story of untiring effort of a woman ‘Pushp’ to save her
self respect and grace; and her intense undying desire to change the
disgraceful, insulting and rather pathetic condition of the women in
which they do not have even the right to express, and nobody seems
willing to listen to their plight. The main point bringing ‘Ankahi’ into
the existence is “Please! Somebody should listen to us also.”
Throughout the story, Pushp keeps on raising questions time to time
about the disparities. Somewhere she answers herself and
somewhere she leaves it for the society. Maybe she has not been
able to bring about much changes but it surely is her untiring
    ‘Bhagirathi prayaas of the Gilahari’.
