Mirth of Poesy

Throughout his poetry, The Old Sire experiments with the various ways of approaching different emotions. At one instance it’s ridiculing the old habit of people chewing tobacco and spitting on various public places; at another, it’s a song of praise to the father of poetry, Sir William Wordsworth. When one poem is afraid of a dangerous mosquito; another thoughtfully gives heed to the chirping queen, a golden sparrow. Moreover, The Old Sire, personifies the act of love with a poet kissing the early morning cup of chai or by embracing the crispy chin of a tasty jalebi, an Indian sweet. Mirth of Poesy draws a thin line between reality and fiction, allowing the readers to explore both ends and cherish the art of poetry. The Old Sire is the pen name of Subin Mathew, a Delhi based poet. He is presently a student of Masters in Educational Planning and Administration from Jamia Millia Islamia, New Delhi. He is a graduate in English Honours, from Satyawati College, University of Delhi.
