This is the first publication of the author, Avijit Mukherjee, who was born and brought up in a remote
village, Patul – Khanakul, in Hooghly, West Bengal. He did his schooling and college also from the same
village. His college, Raja Rammohun Roy Mahavidyalaya, and school, Patul Ganesh Bazar High School,
both have historical significance, with the former being Raja Rammohan Roy's birthplace. The author
taught upto Madhyamik in a primary school at Patul founded by Bidyasagar. He is now working in a
private firm. Avijit began writing when in class nine and ten. He was inspired by the poems in his school
books and the story of the selfish giant in his class eight textbook. That time, the author was very much
inspired by the poems of Subhash Mukhopadhyay, Sukanta Bhattacharya, Jibanananda Das, and
Jasimuddin.
