Rakesh Kumar Kala, the compiler and editor of the anthology is born into a Garhwali brahmin family in Uttarakhand hills. Kala has put in 42 years in service working as a lecturer and then as an Associate professor in the department of English, Central University of Garhwal Srinagar, Uttarakhand.

Besides being a devoted teacher, Kala has remained associated with the National Integration drives of the University and with multifold cultural and ecological programs to enrich the corporate life of the University. Small wonder that he could earn the coveted Indira Priyadarshni Vrikshmitra Award in 1987 for his voluntary organisation “Daliyon Kaa Dagrya”.
