The author, Dr. Jaiprakash Singh, was born on 13th August 1970 in Moranhat, Assam to Mr. Vishwanath Singh and Mrs. Shanti Devi, being the third of their five children. His father ran a small business there along with doing agriculture to support his family. The author studied at Nehru Hindi Vidhyalaya, Moranhat upto Matriculation.He joined Assam Medical College, Dibrugarh and passed his final MBBS in 1995. In 1997, he joined Andrew Yule & Co. Ltd. (A Govt. of India Enterprise) as Medical Officer in one of their tea estates in Golaghat district, namely Murphulani Tea Estate. He is married to Mrs. Anju Singh who comes from Jamshedpur, and is an Economics graduate. Their only son, Dev Prakash Singh is studying in class IV.
