Dr. Vidyanidhi Chhabra and Dr. Rama Sohonee, born and brought up in different places of India, met in JNU and became close friends. They shared their hostels and shared their lives, adventures and memories, their flair for languages and all that literary chatter. Then fate took them to the different karmbhoomis. Vidyanidhi came to teach in the valleys of Himachal Pradesh and spent 25 years of her life on the banks of river Sutlej. Rama Sohonee went to State University of New York and did her doctorate from Stony Brook. She made Virginia, America her karmbhoomi and worked as a Supervisor in Foreign Service Institute for more than 25 years. She developed three research projects/software of language teaching. Vidyanidhi has been an educationist, translator, writer, editor, journalist, painter and scriptwriter. Currently, she is living a peaceful life in Shimla, engaged as an author and critic. Rama was a versatile creative artist, fond of travelling to distant places. She was an avid reader and forayed into writing with ‘An Ordinary Gentleman and Other Stories.’ She wrote two e-books — one of limericks named ‘The Sphinx’, another named ‘Aesop Fables’ with her friend Vidyanidhi.
