Girish Ghate did his BE (Metallurgy) from College of Engineering Pune and went on to complete his master’s degree by research from Indian Institute of Science Bangalore. He published a number of research papers in national and international journals during his tenure with the institute. After working in the industry for a few years, he founded a company by the name Dacotrans India Private Limited as a joint venture with a German company. The company specializes in international freight forwarding and is successfully operating for the past thirty years. Mr. Ghate was recognized by Institute of Economic Studies, New Delhi with “Udyog Ratna” award in 2015 for his invaluable contribution to the industry. Mr. Ghate is actively involved in empowering education and rural development in Maharashtra through Prabhakar Foundation; NGO founded by himself. He was felicitated with “Lifetime Achievement Award” in 2019 at the hands of Shri Dattatrya Sawant; then MLA of Maharashtra and representative of primary & secondary education in the state.
