Dr. Sona Bhatnagar, M.D. spent her early childhood in Africa and India and moved with her family to the United States when she was eleven. From early childhood, Bhatnagar had a desire to heal others, after following and watching her doctor father treat village patients, an inclination that propelled her to become a medical doctor. She received her medical degree from the University of Florida in 1990 and completed her residency in internal medicine at the University of Maryland. She supplements her standard medical training with knowledge of alternative therapeutic techniques, including Reiki and Emotional Freedom Techniques. Bhatnagar practiced in Maryland for more than twenty years. Bhatnagar has a certificate in hypnotherapy from The National Association of Transpersonal Hypnotherapy and serves as a Grief Recovery Specialist. She has additional certifications as an Alpha Healer, Johrei Healer, Pranic Healer, Reconnective Healer, Matrix Energetics Healer, and Reiki Master. After tragically losing her husband, Mohit, and son, Nachu, within ten months of each other, Bhatnagar founded griefhealed.com and the Grief Healed Meetup. She has been featured twice on Arianna Huffington’s website Thrive Global and Cleveland radio personality Philip Keller’s podcast Blind Faith Live! Real People. Real Miracles, where she discussed triumphing over grief on the episode “Life and Death.” Bhatnagar lives with her husband, Nilish, and daughters, Gauri and Radha, in Maryland. She is also very active with her three stepchildren, who live in New York.
