After getting his M.Sc. in Applied Mathematics from Calcutta University, the author did some research work in Theoretical Physics in the Physics Department, Jadavpur University. Thereafter, he joined the Education Service, Govt. of West Bengal and taught at several Govt. colleges in the state. On retirement from the service, the author became a life member of the Calcutta Institute of Theoretical Physics and got engaged in theoretical research work. He has several research papers published in the Physical Review, Indian Journal of Theoretical Physics, and International Journal of Oceans and Oceanography.
