Being born in Madurai, the land where Sangam Tamil was nurtured, and to a father who breathed Tamil, I was naturally interested in Tamil. During my school and college days, I used to write a lot in Tamil and take part in debates. But after marriage, we moved to foreign soil, and added to that, my husband’s lack of interest in Tamil made me shelve my interest in Tamil.
After coming back to India, slowly I started reviving my writing. This pandemic gave a real push. Once I started staying inside the house, I started writing one poem a day.
Today, if my father was alive, he would be hundred years old. So in his honor, I am dedicating my first Hundred Tamil poems to Him.
With his blessings, I am sure I will be able to write lot more Tamil Poems.
Since all my poems are about the real values of life and pleasure, I have named my book “திறவுகோல்” which means “Key”, a key to a good life. All my relatives and friends encouraged me to write more and convinced me to publish my poems as a book. My sincere thanks to each one of them.
