“Accepting the reality with ease, I would like to clarify here that there was no goal of writing poetry nor there was any hope for the creation of a poetry collection in the midst of the varied engagements of life. But no restrictions were ever imposed on himself to read the compositions and poems of poet friends. Some compositions seemed heart touching and pithy. Then he would have the desire to read again and again. Similar works put writing in my hands. Inspired by such heart-touching compositions, promptly trying to put words of mind into words, wrote a short poem and then came the response, “”This first poem is so excellent, the journey ahead will be excellent””. This reaction became the inspiration of my writing, so the creation of the circumference started.

I did not even know when that small reaction started the creation of the periphery.

“Journey of A Common Man”, the maiden autobiographical novel by Bikash Paul Choudhury, a retired technocrat, is basically an account of his experience with life. It is a moving, no-holds-barred dissection of his own self on the surgical table of life that ebbs and flows in its richness, enveloping all our rationality and irrationality, emotions and frustrations, longing and despair, making us at times rejoice at our triumphs and achievements, and at times curse ourselves at the follies and blunders we commit willy-nilly. It is an honest account of the remarkable journey of a common man who could have been any of us.

Mahabharata is one of the two epics (Hindu Itihasa). The sage Vyasa dictated the verses and Lord Ganesha wrote them down with one of his tusks. Karma and Dharma play the main role in the Epic. It consists of 100000 verses and eighteen Parvas. Most of the Parvas are named after their constituent sub-Parvas. The story narrates the struggle between two groups of cousins Pandavas and Kauravas. It ends with the Kurukshetra war. It contains philosophical and devotional material. The main hero of the story is Lord Krishna. He teaches Gita to Arjuna. In Gita, Krishna teaches very simple methods to attain Moksha. The famous Vishnu Sahasranama was narrated by Bheeshma the Great grand gather of Kauravas and Pandavas in his death bed after he was defeated by Arjuna on the 10th day of the war. After the death of Krishna, the Kali-yuga started. The original name of the book was Jaya. Then it was renamed as Vijaya. The present name Mahabharata was derived from the great king Bharata, the son of Shakuntala.
