Did it happen again?
Well, that again could be the feeling of love or something you’ve never wanted to happen.
Is it a guy ditching you or the sacrifice of a dream you’ve always wanted to fulfil?
Questions remain unanswered and so do emotions. Don’t we sometimes tend to jeopardize our very existence by getting subdued by the pressure we face from the society or people in our family? Don’t we tend to forget our relationship with our own self?
Well, this one is an ideal love story, but not at the cost of dreams. Chase your dreams first and leave everything else for it to chase you after you see yourself successful. But how?
Everything in this world is worth a try, even choosing a life you want. Give yourself chances. Well, how many?
You ought to live and love life. It’s a beautiful ride, worth taking a chance at every step.

A master writer reflecting on his illustrious career on his 70 th birthday, a half-gold mongoose
searching for perfection across ages, an aging painter trying to outdo the emerging craft of
photography, an avatar choosing to go back to his reality, a government clerk who stumbles upon
the theory of everything, a mysterious lady doomed to kill anyone who have her, an autoriksha
driver haunted by the memory an accident that cost him his daughter- Crossing Over deals with
stories of people transcending the outer layers of life and going deeper in search of meaning. As they
cast aside the crosses of their lives and embark on new journeys their lives become treatises on how
the stream of life finds a way around each obstacle and run through the many paths of redemption
before it finds the ultimate salvation. With themes ranging from unabashedly nostalgic to
mundanely realistic and from engagingly mystical to unapologetically absurd these stories seek to
make the reader reaffirm his faith on life and literature.
This is a tale told to an old man in the park by a small bird, of how it saw humans kill and display animals for pleasure. The Humming Bird is a story; an enthralling ride where birds narrate how humans cannot be trusted. “Hummer” the hummingbird sees animal blood being shed, the hand of one endangered animal who he sees yearning for freedom and the image of his free past in his small, dark eyes; the breeds turned to craft for their head, suffering in an orgy of pain; man slaughters animals as they cry to death, bereft of hope.
The stories in the volume are reminiscent of Aesop’s fables – a hare pays with her life for being honest, an early bird itself becomes the prey, street dogs get empowered, modern technology plays havoc with avian life, a king crow outwits a greedy farmer, the pelican sisters’ dreams are shattered, a farmer plays a trick to get rid of the rats, a zebra abandons her new-born baby, an intellectually-challenged son becomes the leader following the dynastic line of succession, a fox-as-doctor fleeces his patients, the poor animals suffer humiliation and ill-treatment, a young rat bells the cat, a fox becomes the king but meets with a cruel fate, a moorhen is tricked into a love trap by a drake, the ants teach the elephant a lesson, the weaver birds vie with each other in beautifying their nests, the wasps realize the power of their sting… While children might read them as animal fables, the adult reader may find in some of them a meaning beyond the written word – a reflection of the social and political climate of our times.

Wetlands are one of the most threatened ecosystems in the world. Whether they are mangroves, paddy fields or lakes, they are disappearing or are getting degraded due to urbanization, industrial and agricultural activities and other formal and informal encroachments from various economic agents. Wetland ecosystems provide innumerable tangible and intangible benefits to the economy but their contribution is ignored due to their public good/common property nature and as a result they are depleting and degrading overtime. With this background, this book reports on the distribution of wetlands in various states of the country. An attempt is also made to conduct the economic evaluation of a few wetlands in Eastern Himalayas. This book will be relevant to the policy making in the Ministry of Environment and Forest, Tourism, DoNER etc. This book is also a valuable source of information for the environmentalists, environmental economists, environmental scientists and researchers.
