Parasitology is the study of parasites, their hosts and the relationship between them. In practice, it will be found that an animal that is examined, will, more than likely, carry a mixed infection, and quite a few different species of Protozoa, Nematodes, Trematodes and Cestodes may occur together. In such cases, only an experienced investigator may be able to determine the role of various individual species in causing discomfort or clinical signs in the host and parasitism. However in this book, it may be mentioned that some species are more pathogenic than others, and much will depend upon the organ affected. In many cases, a multiple infection of even a comparatively small number of parasites may cause more harm than if the host is infected with one species of parasites only. The helminthes parasites usually have a short life and an older animal is likely to be presumed and thus carry a smaller number of parasites resulting from rein infections. However in parasitology and host interactions in some cases, the resistant and partly-immune animal may suffer more because of hypersensitivity and tissue reactions resulting from invasion by parasites. The entire novel is about a series of incidents that have happened in his life. The story is set in late 1960’s when a great shift was happening in the politics of the state. The story is underpinned by the superstitious beliefs with which the villagers approach their everyday lives, for example when the hero’s friend Elamathiyan is accused of being impotent by his wife at a village panchayat, an insane decision to let the accused display his virility to a prostitute is suggested by the villagers. The other part of the story revolves around the life of the narrator’s mother and grand mother. The novel opens with a prologue that deals with a dream that is disturbing the narrator and influences his life. The rest of the story is the narrator’s description of why he gets that weird dream.

Kaziranga National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, has turned hundred and thirteen years in 2018 and has emerged as one of the most remarkable conservation accomplishments compared to the other protected areas in the world. Kaziranga is blessed with two-thirds of the world’s Indian one-horned rhino population. Besides the celebrated Rhinos, it is inhabited by many other mammals including tigers, elephants, panthers, swamp deer, wild buffaloes, bears, and thousands of birds. Kaziranga is home to the world’s highest density of tigers in protected areas. The repeated flooding and erosion of river Brahmaputra, poaching, weed menace, stray Rhinos, pollution in neighboring areas, etc. are serious threats to the conservation of biodiversity at this world heritage site. As it is not possible for the government alone to protect the park from these threats, we all must undertake the responsibility to work for the conservation of biodiversity and ensure that Kaziranga becomes a unique and safe place for flora, fauna and human beings.
