Morinda citrifolia is a fruit-bearing tree of the coffee family, Rubiaceae, and contains chemical constituents such as flavonoids, alkaloids and terpenoids. Sterols and minerals have been isolated from this plant. The pharmacological properties of this plant, based on scientific research, claim to be antibacterial and antiulcerogenic. The present study is based on the evaluation of preliminary phytochemical, cytotoxic and antioxidant activities of the leaf of Morinda citrifolia. The components from Morinda citrifolia leaves were subjected to phytochemical screening tests, using standard procedures. The antioxidant activity was measured by using the 1, 1- diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) assay and ferric reducing power assay. The dose-dependent increase was observed in the DPPH activity of the leaf (0.25, 0.50, 1 μg/ml). Components were investigated for their short term cytotoxicity on the DLA cells by trypan blue dye exclusion method. Morinda citrifolia leaf was proved to be an effective anticancer and antioxidant agent. These results suggest that Morinda citrifolia has the potential of antioxidant and antitumor activity that support the ethnopharmacological uses of this plant. The remarkable activity showed by the plant could be attributed to the synergic effect of the active compounds present in it.

This, of course, is a religious book, but I admit that the same has been re-written without inflicting an offence on the sentiments of the followers of Christianity, the religion prevalent all over the globe. The effort put into this work has only been to make the profound message of Jesus, ‘the fisher of the fishermen’, simple and understandable to all age groups. To me, the distribution of this simplified version of the great epic in abundance would help the message become even more widespread. The author personally feels that all missionary schools, hospitals, and elite hotel groups should play their part in spreading the Bible’s message amongst the masses through the widespread distribution of this book alongside distributing other pieces of literature on Christianity Such an effort on the part of all shall make this work truly fruitful.

This story of mine is an adaptation of the story, “Chand Saawla Hai,” published in Hindi. And the stories, inspired by some events, do represent both imagination and fragments that mirror the truth. What is happening today is a story, what was happening yesterday was also a story, and what happens tomorrow will also become a story. If everything was seen as truth instead of a story, then today, perhaps, the background of our society and families would have told a different story. Everyone has their boundaries and premises, and most of the time, they are violated. But there is no violation of these violations, nor is there any scale to measure all this. Just as one truth is different for different persons and becomes a story, in the same way, just like there was a king and there was a queen, this story gets over. And will this happen always…? We have not been able to learn anything from the Panchatantra stories of the animal kingdom till date, which in my view forms the biggest learning through stories. I think no writer can teach someone something by simply writing a story; One only tries to tell by expressing one’s thoughts, “Look, this is happening. And is it really happening!?”

In this era of reduced attention span, there is a need to adopt a methodology to increase our ability to focus on a single issue and concentrate without yielding to distractions. The constant barrage of attention-seeking, sensational media offerings has created havoc with our analytical abilities and comprehensions. The distractions are too many to handle in any given time frame. We have outsourced our memory to Google and calculations to an electronic calculator. Surrounded by screens of varying sizes throughout the waking time of our day, we have almost lost our ability to imagine vividly, experience inner peace, and share unconditional love.
Since we are used to a smaller attention span, this book has adopted a novel methodology to share deep knowledge. It is called nano insight. Each insight is explained on a single page and can penetrate deep inside when internalised. These insights cover a vast canvass of the mind, meditation, and spirituality. Collectively improving these three areas will result in a mega transformation in our ability to focus and discard the distractions to attention.

The Laghu Nighantu is a small work consisting of about 500 lines. The name Laghu Nighantu is mentioned at the end as well as at the beginning of the script. At the end of the manuscript, it is stated that this Laghu Nighantu is a part of vkS”kf/kukeekyk (Auşadhināmamālā). This Nighantu is also a synonymous type of work like other Nighantu literature. The style is very simple and the meter followed is vuq’VqHk~. This lexicon does not disclose any original contribution but merely lists some very commonly used remedies in general practice. 158 drugs have been mentioned in this lexicon. 129 drugs belong to the vegetable kingdom and 19 to the mineral kingdom. Except Kastūri, no other drug belonging to the animal kingdom is mentioned. The first drug dealt in this work is Gudüci. The heading is given as Galonāma. Galo is a Gujarati name for Gudüci, and thereby it is observed that prominence is given to Gujarati names. It is observed that the common vegetables like Anantamüla, Vidanga, Lodhra etc are not mentioned in this work. It is also noted that the drugs like ahiphena, katuvira, bhanga and yashtimadhu, which were introduced in Nighantu literature earlier by Madanapala and others, are not found in this work. lt Is possible that the object of writing this Nighantu was to acquaint the readers of most commonly used drugs and these omitted drugs may not be in common use. Among the mineral drugs, the commonly used minerals like loha and vanga are not mentioned. There is a mention of Pärada and Hingula. The properties attributed to Parada indicate that the author is familiar with Rasaśāstrā and the different processes associated with Pārada preparations. So, portions of the lines of Dhanvantri Nighanțu have been incorporated in this work, indicating the author is conversant with this work.
