‘Do Drama” is a collection of two short plays on the socio-political behavior of the society.
First is ‘Thade Duare Nanga’. It is a play on the short story “The Emperor’s New Clothes” written by Swedish writer Hans Christian Anderson. It is the story of a cruel and foolish emperor, who pays a lot of money to the weaver for some new magic clothes. Clothes are invisible to those who are stupid. The clothes don’t really exist. When the emperor parades in public in his new clothes, no one dares to say that he has not worn any clothes, because he fears they will look stupid. Finally, his public cry , “But he has worn nothing!”
The second play “Ek Samvedansheel Mamla” is a painful story of the Dalits of India. In Indian society, there is often a news of the Dalit groom not being allowed to take the marriage procession on horse riding. People of upper caste , humiliated and tortured … Sometimes a Dalit groom has to pay the price of climbing a mare with his own life. Politics and police support the superiors. The long-standing judicial process also does not give them justice.
