The author, Alaparthy Chitti Babu, was born in Ponnur town in Guntur district of Andhra Pradesh on 1st August 1939, to Alaparthy Raghavaiah and Sundara Rajamma, the erstwhile District Revenue officer, Andhra Pradesh, India. He did his elementary education in Intur village, SSLC from BR High School Repalle, Intermediate from Hindu College, Guntur, BSc, from AC College, Guntur, MBBS from Osmania Medical College, Hyderabad in 1962, and MS in General Surgery from Osmania Medical College in 1966. A registered medical practitioner in AP since 1962, he worked in Government Headquarters Hospital in Nalgonda as civil assistant surgeon for a few months, and then worked as Assistant Prof of Surgery in Guntur Medical College and civil assistant Surgeon in GGH, Guntur. He has been working as a private medical practitioner in Ponnur since 1967. Having an interest in clinical research, the author has published six papers on various topics in medical journals, and has presented eight papers in various state and all-India medical conferences. In later years, he developed an interested in spirituality, published a book, “Knowing My Self My Family and the Universe,” and distributed it among a close circle of friends and relatives. Another book titled, “Units of Living Wisdom,” a collection of his philosophical thoughts on life and living, is to be published in the form of an ebook. He authored his professional autobiography, “Fifty Years of My Medical Journey,” in which he has narrated his medical training, record of case histories and his experiences as a house surgeon, government service personnel in a district headquarters hospital, assistant professor of surgery in medical college, and finally in private medical practice. In this book, the author has mentioned some problems faced by the contemporary GP’s. He has distributed copies of this book to all the medical colleges in AP and Telangana, to the interested final year students, among his professional colleagues around, health administrative government officials and main executives of Indian Medical Association.
