Dr. Atma Ram Jain did his graduation and post-graduation in Science (Physics) from Agra University, Agra. In 1965 he joined Delhi University,
Delhi (DU) and completed a Ph.D. program in Physics in 1969. He worked at the University College of Wales, Aberystwyth under the leadership of Prof. Sir Granville Beynon from 1971- 1974 and 1981- 84. He served at National Physical Laboratory, New Delhi from 1977 – 1990 and joined the National MST Radar Facility (Now known as National Atmospheric Research Laboratory) of ISRO / DOS in 1990 and served there till his retirement in 2002. His main research interests have been in the studies of the structure of
atmospheric stable and turbulent layers in the Tropospheric region. One of the most interesting findings is the presence of multiple stable layer structures in the Tropospheric region of the atmosphere. After his
retirement, he worked as ISRO visiting scientist at National Physical Laboratory (NPL), New Delhi. He has guided a number of students for their Ph.D. degrees and has a good number of publications to his credit in
National and International peer-reviewed journals.
