Dr. Devakumar Jacob completed his doctorate and served as a lecturer for ten years at Loyola College, Chennai. He has been engaged in teaching Social-Legal History and Social Science Research for over fifteen years in few premier educational institutions. Presently, he is teaching as faculty at School of Law, Rights and Constitutional Governance, Tata Institute of Social Science,, Mumbai. Contemporary Social History, Caste and Gender, Subaltern History, Migration and Forced Migration, State and Society, Social Welfare administration, Human Rights Education, International Humanitarian Law and Research Methodology have been his areas of academic interests. He has mentored twelve M.Phil. students and four PhD scholars. He is a member in many academic professional bodies. His research paper has been adjudged as a best paper by the Indian History Congress. He has authored four books on marginalised history, and published twenty research articles on various social themes.
