The author Dr. R.K. Rajoo is a 1959 graduate in Agriculture from Govt. Agriculture College Ludhiana, Post Graduate in soil science and Agri. Chemistry from P.G. School, Indian Agriculture Research Institute, New Delhi-110012 in 1961 and Ph.D. in soil science (1975) from Rajasthan Agriculture College, University of Udaipur, Rajasthan.
He served in the Department of Agriculture in H.P. for 23 years and retired prematurely in 1984 as Principal, Gram Sewak Trg. Centre, Mashobra, Shimla H.P. In between he availed two stints as soil specialist at Mt. Makulu, Central Research Station in Lusaka, Zambia and taught soil science at Njala Agriculture College Sierraleone from 1982-1984. In 1986 he joined UNDP as Soil Specialist and worked in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia till 1998. After returning from abroad Dr. Rajoo joined CSK H.P.K.V. Agriculture University, Palampur as Addil. Director Ext. Education from where he retired in May, 1998. Dr. Rajoo wrote about 150 research and popular papers published in many journals around the globe and a report associated with Int. Atomic Energy Agency, Vienna relating to mixed cropping project in Zambia.
