K.R. Shyam Sundar studied till his post-graduation in Madras (now Chennai) and later got his
PhD in Labour Economics from the Department of Economics, Bombay (now Mumbai)
University. He worked for a little more than two decades in Guru Nanak College of Arts,
Science & Commerce, Mumbai University. Since December 2013, he has been working as a
Professor in the Human Resources Management Area, at XLRI, Xavier School of Management,
Jamshedpur. He has written extensively in the field of Industrial Relations and Labour
Economics. He has so far published over seventy-five articles and book reviews in research
outlets and edited books. He has written more than one hundred articles in print and electronic
media. He has also authored thirteen books and edited five books.
However, his range of interests goes beyond his academic engagement. He reads books, watches
all genres of movies in many languages (with English sub-titles), travels widely, loves Nature,
makes solitary long walks, interacts with people from all walks of lives, listens to both classical,
spiritual and cine music in Southern languages and Hindi, among others. He has read widely in
Literature (Tamizh and English), Philosophy, Biographies and Autobiographies, Religion and
Spirituality, etc. He has been much inspired by poetry especially in Tamizh.
