About This Book

An attempt has been made in this book to present the very distinct culture of Hindu Jats. Wherever Jat word is written, it denotes Hindu Jats. Their customs, traditions and peculiar art of living life to its fullest despite odds, mainly self-created, are only highlighted here. The book is inspired by family history. Despite avoiding six Gotras, own Gaon and Guha and (neighboring villages within roughly twenty miles), all Hindu Jats are related to each other, if not directly then indirectly. Names have been changed to avoid any controversies. The events that have been narrated in this book are based on folklore and as were narrated to the writer by the family elders. There is some twist to the events, not to confirm exaggeration, which is natural in folklore but for easy comprehension and maintenance of interest of the reader. The period covered is primarily late 19th and early 20th centuries; stretching up to pre-independence and pre-partition.
